The 34th Annual Hood to Coast Relay was this weekend with over 12,000 runners starting at Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood and then finishing in Seaside Oregon.  The race started out well but a freak late August wind storm hit the Oregon Coast this morning destroying the finish line, tents, concert stage, and everything else on the beach.
Event organizers cancelled all beach activities due to the high winds and flying objects.  The finish line was moved in to Broadway because the Trend West building blocked the strong south winds.  The sideways rain and 70+ MPH gusts on the beaches didn’t stop participants though and the race went on as scheduled. Unfortunately, the concert, beer garden, and all other post race activities on the beach are canceled.  Check out these pictures of the damage done by the Hood to Coast wind storm on the beach in Seaside Oregon.
Here are some photos from the event:

The 2015 Hood to Coast Relay happened to fall during a late August wind storm with 70 MPH wind gusts.  This would have been a significant storm for the winter, but the fact it fell in the month of August very strange.  Overall though it seemed like race participants still enjoyed themselves.  Morrisey Productions took these photographs on the beach in front of the turnaround in Seaside Oregon.  Don’t forget to follow us on social media or contact us for your free no-obligation digital media quote.
Ecola State Park Cannon Beach Oregon
This photo was taken at Ecola State Park otherwise known as “Indian Beach” near Cannon Beach Oregon.  This is one of my favorite beaches on the North Oregon Coast.  The lands for Ecola were purchased between 1932 to 1978 from the Federal Government and private land owners.  The park charges a fee to enter and has a Cannon Beach viewpoint and a drive in beach access.  Within Ecola State Park you can find old growth Sitka Spruce, Western Hemlock, Seagulls, Elk, Deer, and tons of other wildlife.  During the summer months Indian Beach serves as a popular surfing destination for those willing to brave the cold Pacific Ocean waters.  The Oregon Beach Bill was passed in 1967 session of the Oregon Legislature which basically made all 363 miles of beaches public land.  The Morrisey Productions crew also filmed this aerial drone video of Ecola State Park.
As you can see from this aerial footage the Oregon Coast is one of the most scenic places on earth.

Haystack Rock Cannon Beach OR copy
Haystack Rock is one of the most popular landmarks on the North Coast of Oregon.  Tourists from around the world travel to the small beach town of Cannon Beach to get a glimpse of the 235 foot tall intertidal structure.  Locals claim this is the 3rd largest intertidal structure in the world and is home to animals like star fish, crabs, sea anemone’s, and limpets.  The top of Haystack Rock is inhabited by hundreds of sea birds including the legendary Tufted Puffin.  Morrisey Productions is in the process of filming and producing a Pacific Northwest adventure video that will include the most scenic locations on the Oregon Coast.  Our video will be unique because it is being filmed mainly by drone.  The above picture is a screen capture from one of our aerial fly overs of Haystack Rock.  The full video should be released in late summer of 2015.

2015 Beach Volleyball Pictures and Videos
For the last 30 years Seaside Oregon has hosted the world’s Largest amateur beach volleyball tournament  with over 1,200 teams playing on 110 courts!  On August 7th, 8th, and 9th of 2015 it’s going down once again in Seaside. Volleyball players from around the world will converge on the beach in front of the Turn Around.  This year we are expecting record crowds and should have well over 1,000 teams competing in a variety of different divisions.  Depending on the turn out, prize money can be as much as $15,000 for the winning teams.  Event organizers estimate that over 10,000 spectators watch the volleyball matches each day with the two person team finals held on Saturday night, and the mixed gender team finals on Sunday evening.  This event is sponsored by the Seaside Chamber of Commerce and you can get more information at the Seaside Beach Volleyball Website.  As a native of Seaside I have attended the beach volleyball tournament as long as I can remember.  I especially enjoy hanging out in the Bud Light VIP tent at center court with the crew from Clatsop Distributing.  The photo above was taken during the women’s finals during the 2012 event. Morrisey Productions will be at the beach all weekend taking photos and filming the men and women’s final match.  Keep reading to see our older videos of previous beach volleyball tournaments in Seaside Oregon.

If you want to know what to expect at the 2015 event, check out this video we filmed of the 2010 Seaside Beach Volleyball Women’s Final match.  The center court is where the excitement is because that’s where they play the best teams and the finals matches.  As you can see the people in the crowd do a lot of drinking which makes it a lively event.  The Seaside Chamber of Commerce also brings in a DJ to keep it interesting.
Morrisey Video Production also filmed this video of the 2010 Men’s Beach Volleyball final match.  The finals is always the most exciting part of the tournament.  The Morrisey Productions crew will be at the 2015 event and I hope to see you all there!  If your interested in video production or photography for your event or business CONTACT US for a free no-obligation quote.
